About Us

Nestled in the historic city of Mobile, AL lies a small business fueled by two passionate entrepreneurs! Get to know the co-owners, Megan & Richard, as we make it our mission to scent the community and elevate the homes of customers all around the USA!

Featuring handcrafted home & body products made by our own two hands, you're going to fall in love with our 100% soy wax candles + organic and vegan body products!

When we launched in the summer of 2020, we were hand sewing masks for our community due to the COVID-19 shutdown. So why masks? You have to think back when the world shut down, you couldn't find masks at gas stations and big box stores like you can today. Consumers were dependant on small local crafters to hand-sew masks which were now being required everywhere all over the world.

We also partnered with a local company to create custom hand sanitizers for our brand. Our sanitizers were so popular, we literally couldn't keep them in stock! We knew we had found a great niche for us to move into as the mask craze died down and supply/demand settled.

With people spending more time at home, we trended towards C&C Home with the launch of our latest hand-poured candles, vegan lotions, and luxury hand soaps and hand sanitizers!

The two of us came into this journey of building Citrus & Cane in very different ways. Keep reading to learn more about the two entrepreneurs behind the brand:

Meet Megan:

Megan Angeline Kowal

Known for her many hats, Megan controls the daily operations of the business including finances, website design, and marketing. Watch out, she can sell you anything!

Since the age of 12 I've been a serial entrepreneur. My gramma taught me to sew at a young age, and I've had various small businesses since then from selling handmade pillows in middle school, to those fuzzy boa purses in high school, and then swimwear/dresses in college. It's such an incredible skill my gramma taught me, so when my close friend Richard (and now fellow business partner) was sewing masks for local hospitals during the March 2020 COVID lockdown, I knew that I could help him knock out some of the sewing.

We had a ton of old mermaid fabric from my days of selling swimwear so we made a bunch of mermaid masks and ended up selling out without even trying! Once I saw the response of supplying our community with handmade cute masks, my entrepreneurial mind started burning. How can we support our community, build a brand, and use our creative talents at the same time? Boom, Citrus & Cane was born.

 Meet Richard:

Richard McGill-Hamilton

Known for his extremely innovative ideas, Richard helps to push the brand forward and is responsible for all product photography and brand development. His energy is infectious, and you can't help but smile around him.

Living in a third-story loft in the heart of downtown Mobile, my energy and love for this city comes from its people who were born to celebrate. My husband, family, and friends are my living force, and without them the person that I am today would have never been.

I started sewing masks at the start of the COVID-19 countrywide quarantine, and I began donating them to children's hospitals in Mobile and surrounding areas. When I was furloughed from my full-time job I had to start selling masks to support the donated ones to our local hospitals. From that, the original idea of Citrus & Cane was formed. Born out of my love for the community, C&C started as a brand that wanted to bring a normality to masks. We launched with uniquely printed masks and exclusive sanitizers made with essential oils and love.
